Adventure Race

Breathtaking views, challenging terrain, and captivating wilderness, set the scene for this 12 hour race of challenging fun and adventure. Join us in honoring and commemorating a dear friend, fellow adventure racer, and fellow search and rescue instructor, who died while training a few years ago.
 
Krista spent many years training and instructing at the Civil Air Patrol’s Search and Rescue School that is based at Hawk Mountain, PA. Proceeds from the race will go to benefit that volunteer school. Teams of 2 to 3 racers will face the seemingly unending challenges of Hawk Mountain including: rugged trekking and orienteering, mountain biking, fixed ropes, team challenges, and canoeing.
 
Racing for this great cause is both rewarding for participants, volunteers, spectators, and sponsors.

Civil Air Patrol Hawk Mountain Search and Rescue School

Pine Swamp Road, Kempton, PA 

The school is located near Interstate 78, half way between Harrisburg and Allentown. From Interstate 78 get off at Exit #34 (old Exit #11)  Lenhartsville-PA Route 143. Turn north (left) on PA Route 143 and proceed approximately 5 miles to an intersection that has a Sonoco gas station. Turn left onto Hawk Mountain Road. In about 100 yards the road forks, stay to the left. Stay on this road for approximately 10 minutes (3 miles). Turn left onto Pine Swamp Road. School is 1 mile down on the left hand side road.

LODGING OPTIONS:
Lodging arrangements are the responsibility of each participant
Camping is available at the Search and Rescue School. Tent camping only, no showers.

TEAM CATEGORIES:

THE DUETS: Same or co-ed team of 2;
THE TRIPLETS: Same or co-ed team of 3;
MASTERS DIVISION TEAMS- DUETS: Combined age of 80;
TRIPLETS: Combined age of 120.

PRIZES:

The first place 3 person coed team from this regional qualifying race will receive
a $400.00 sponsorship toward the USARA Adventure Race National Championship.
(November 4-5 at Tarpon Springs, Florida)
 
The USARA is excited to announce that Zanfel has signed on as a sponsor of
the 2005 Regional Qualifying Races. Zanfel will provide an additional $100.00
towards the entry fee to the 2005 USARA Adventure Race National
Championship for the winning team from each Regional Qualifying Race.
 
The top 3 winning co-ed teams of this race are eligible to participate
in the USARA Adventure Race National Championship.
 
Various prizes will be awarded at the race, with the top prize going
to those teams in the co-ed divisions.
